Turning Point Ministries Leadership Camp 2015

What does it take to lead on camp?

How do I care for the kids in my camp discussion group?

Do I have the right attitude to be a leader?

What is leadership?

A fabulous bunch of 35 people gathered in order to learn and grow at Warrambui in NSW on the weekend 16–18 January 2015, and to answer the important questions about leadership listed above.

As it had been some years since Turning Point Ministries (TPM is the Child, Youth and Family Ministry of the NSW District) had conducted any formal leadership training, and with some wonderful new volunteer leaders stepping up to serve, the need was recognised and Leadership Camp was created.

A grant from the LLL Youth Ministry Permanent Fund, through Grow Ministries, made it possible for TPM to provide this important camp free of charge to our leaders, and also to bring Emma Graetz from Grassroots Training (a ministry of Australian Lutheran College) to lead our sessions.

Emma was such a blessing with some terrific stories and a vast experience of camping ministry across the LCA.  We are so thankful to God for Emma and pray that she in turn was encouraged in the important role she plays within our church.

The feedback from camp was wonderfully positive and certainly constructive.  The TPM Camping Team was able to learn from this weekend as well and hope to provide an even more valuable Leadership Camp weekend in 2016.

We are looking to make this camp a regular feature on the calendar knowing that it fits so well within the TPM mandate of equipping children, youth, young adults and families, and teaching them about Jesus Christ and what it means to be a disciple.

Leadership Camp is for all people ready and willing to serve, regardless of age and experience, but primarily for those wanting to assist others to grow in their relationship with Jesus.

The LLL Youth Ministry Permanent Fund generated $55,408 during the 2014/2015 financial year.
