Lutheran Schools Association Leadership Day

Redeemer School Captains and Vice Captains joined other senior students from around the state at Good Shepherd Lutheran School, Para Vista for the annual Lutheran Schools Association Student leadership day recently.  The day was facilitated by Emma Graetz who is employed by Grassroots Training, a branch of the Australian Lutheran College.

The day commenced with games that enabled the students to interact and get to know students from other Lutheran Schools.  Ms Graetz then spent much of the day helping the students to understand what it means to be an effective leader, especially within a Christian context.  The participants learnt a lot about the 4 Ss of Student Leadership: significant others, spiritual leadership, servant leadership and support of others.

At the end of the day Harrison, Bronte, Jemma and Zarlee spent time as a group reflecting on what had been learnt and how they can apply elements to leadership at Redeemer Lutheran School.  The students recognised that there are many leaders within the school including many who do not have formal leadership positions.  The student leaders look forward to working together using skills they had learnt in the workshop.
